A Physician Assistant

I need 5000 characters, this is also a personal statement. it is about why do I want to be a physician assistant? it has to have a powerful conclusion. I wanted to pa because I wanted to make a difference in the world. Coming from a different country made me realize that I have a chance to make a difference because not a lot of people get what they want. My father always wanted to be an engineer, but at the time he was in India, he started going to an engineering school it was not accepted yet. but he wanted there for 2-3 days. they said they will only take him if he knows someone from upper society which was not going to happen. but when we moved to the US I thought I could make my dream a reality because I have a chance to do what I was born to do. also, I have always been sure of what I wanted to do, because I was born in different countries and saw that the government does not have enough insurance or policies to provide the poor, my nanny who took care of me when I was a kid until we moved here was from a poor background, she was always sick yet she still worked very hard and provided for her 4 kids, her body would get weak and still would not be able to open her eyes, she would just get sick out of nowhere. that happened more often, but she still could not go to the doctor, because it would cost a lot and she did not have enough money. so she would get some over the counter medication that would work for her which would make her more active for the day, and she would go to work. she was really sick one day, and we took her to the doctor but the doctors did not know what was wrong with her. that was the day when I was really young and had a dream where I wanted to do something in the medical field.   But I was not sure what would be best for me. I became a patient care tech and a phlebotomist, it did not speak to me too well. but  I still loved the job, still was not sure that’s exactly how I would be able to make the difference in the world. One day when I was at work I received a call that my parents had a head-on collision with another car which was a lot bigger than their Prius. My mom broke her left hip and my dad broke his ribs and his fingers and he had a head injury as well. unfortunately, the doctors from Valley medical center that my mom’s surgery was too complicated so they had to move her to level one trauma hospital, which is where they did the procedure where they moved the femur back into its place and attached to the attraction where they put more weight until the surgery. she was admitted to the hospital for 2 weeks and then discharged. On her first appointment with her physician Assistant, I saw that she was a lot more comfortable and was able to talk to her about whatever she wanted to talk about. it was like the pa has known her for many many years, that’s what inspired me to be a physician assistant because she was not that comfortable with her physician. there were so many times that the patients got connected with their physician assistant when I was shadowing the pa’s as well because they made that kind of environment for them because patients and their health is a lot more important for them, it’s like they have so many sides like we do not know the patient’s like at the moment when you are going to go in and treat them, sometimes they would talk to you sometimes they won’t. sometimes it’s hard for the patients to express their feelings. it is very much harder to cope with whatever they are going through. With my job that I do as a patient care tech at Harborview medical center, It is a lot easier for the patients to talk about what they feel especially the one that feels that no one care for them at the hospital, they do sometimes feel alone, so it is my job to create the friendly environment for them and so that they can share about how they feel. they would tell us something that they would not talk to their doctors about especially if they have suicidal thoughts, we had a patient that had a past history of SI and she was admitted, she had a sad history because her son died 2 years ago when he was only 9 months old, she was going through a lot of trouble with her drunk boyfriend, she was not coping with the sadness very well, was not talking to anyone. it was when we got to know her she asked me if she should let the doctor know that she was having suicidal thoughts even when she’s about to discharged, it is when I realized and sometimes just being there for the patient and listening very carefully to what they have to say can save a life because one support can help them turn their life around make it more loveable.  I don’t know how it is going to fit into this but I also wanted to talk about academically. I gave up so many times, because of all the transfers and I was off track with no on to guide me, I had very bad grade throughout my course at the university because of the circumstance in our family. I was not able to do good in most of my classes, it is because my family needed but I retook every course that I did not do better on, but never gave up even though I was very much close to giving up when my dad got shot when he was just the taxi driver who was driving down the road and was in ICU  for real long time. it is especially now when I see and care for patients that I work with I thought of them as my family.
