For your topic(s), assess the ways in which the changes wrought by Euro-American ascendancy benefitted and/or harmed California and/or the United States more generally. Assignment Guidelines 1. Double spaced one-inch margins all around, 12 pt font. Put your name, course number/section, date, and e-mail address in the upper right corner (single-spaced). Number the pages. 2. Essay page limit is 6 pages of text. You may include a general introduction/conclusion but are not required to do so. Minimum page limit: 4 pages, but 5-6 pages is strongly suggested. 3. You must primarily use course material for this assignment. Outside material can be used to supplement your essay. Cite to all materials relied upon (paraphrase or direct quote), including page number(s). Essays without citation to the course material will not be accepted. Use parenthetical citations along with a Works Cites page or footnotes. Cite to Pacific Eldorado as “PE” (for example, (PE, 35) means that the material you are relying on is in Pacific Eldorado on p. 35). You should have at least one citation per paragraph unless the paragraph is a general introduction, conclusion, or purely your opinion. For outside sources, provide a full citation. 4. Suggested organization: Use a heading(s) to identify your chosen topic(s). Under each heading, answer the three questions in an essay that flows well. You may: 1) choose two smaller topics, and address them separately, 2) choose two related topics and address them together, or 3) choose one larger topic and address it. Paragraph appropriately. 5. Submit your essay on the course website by Sunday, November 1st, at 11:59 p.m.
