  6. 10.3 explains to readers the difference between Modernization Theory (functionalism) and Dependency Theory (another conflict theory). In what ways are these theories incompatible with each other? 
  7. Section 11.1 addresses the question “What is race?” a) Please summarize what the authors (sociologists) have to say on that topic. b) What does ethnicity mean?
  8. What is the difference between stereotype, prejudice, and discrimination?
  9. 11.2 defines institutional racism. Please define it and give an example of it (either from the book or from your own observations and knowledge).
