The Assignment for this course, you will be given the opportunity to construct in a creative project that explores some of the core issues of identity and interaction and relationship between the self and society in greater depth. In part one of this assignment, you answered a series of questions about your own identity and began to think about how aspects of your identity connect to sociological understandings of the self and interaction. In part 2 and 3 you will explore these connections further through a paper and creative representation of your identity. Only part 2 is due in unit 6, but you should have an idea about your creative project before writing the paper.

Directions

For part 2 of this project, you will address the following things in paragraph form:

Section 1:

What are you choosing to do your project on (be as specific as possible)? What aspects of your identity are you addressing? What motivated you to choose this topic? What aspects of the topic do you find particularly interesting and worth looking into further? What type of project (ie. art work, poster, poem etc.) did/will you create?

Section 2:

Using at least 3 articles that we covered in class, explain how these works have spurred you to think further about your identity in a sociological manner. What theories of the self and interaction are relevant to your experiences? Define and explain each of the concepts/theories before applying them to your empirical examples.

Section 3:

Based on your sociologically analysis, what might be some further issues of exploration and additional sociological questions? Are there gaps in the analysis or issues left unexplained?
